A New Chapter for Texas Classic
“I’ve always been the person working behind the scenes. But even though you might not see me, I’ve been here for a long time, and I’m not going anywhere.”
In 2022, Linda became the sole owner of Texas Classic Custom Homes, driven by her desire to reshape the business around her core values and better support her team. She takes pride in bringing out the best in the subcontractors she’s worked with, many for more than 15 years. Under her leadership, the company thrives on honesty, fairness, and a culture where every team member feels valued and respected.
From Foundations to Communities
Linda’s work isn’t just about building homes — it’s about building relationships, creating spaces that reflect her clients’ dreams, and supporting her community.
Even after decades in the industry, her dedication to her craft and her community remains as strong as ever. Whether she’s working with longtime clients, mentoring her team, or spending time with her family, Linda approaches everything with the same love, care, and attention to detail that have defined her career.
Linda’s journey into the world of homebuilding and design is as colorful and textured as the interiors she meticulously crafts. With roots deeply embedded in the small, close-knit community of Bastrop, her passion for design began 30 years ago when a friend constructed her family’s home in Bastrop.
This experience ignited a spark in her, revealing a natural talent for design. Her love for vibrant colors and unique styles stood out in an era dominated by neutral tones and white walls. Despite gentle teasing from her builder friend about her bold choices — such as incorporating different paint colors in every room and adorning the walls with wallpaper — Linda remained steadfast. She knew what she wanted, and she had a vision for her home that would later translate into her work for others.
Homegrown Designs and Dreams
In 2000, Linda experienced one of the proudest moments of her career when she participated in Bastrop’s first and only Parade of Homes. Given the opportunity to showcase her design skills on a larger scale, she poured her heart and soul into her role on the project, choosing everything from paint colors to furniture. The home she designed won seven out of 11 awards, including Best Interior Design and the People’s Choice Award — a testament to her talent and hard work.
Linda opened Texas Classic Custom Homes in 2009, with her serving as President and her builder friend as Vice President. It wasn’t long before her detail-oriented nature and dedication helped her gain the trust of both clients and colleagues.
Then, in 2011, the devastating Bastrop fires struck. With many homes lost, the demand for new builds surged as people sought to rebuild with their insurance money. Linda’s team quickly grew to meet the need, bringing in additional staff and even hiring an architect to draw up custom plans.
To help families impacted by the fire, Linda helped organize a home product show at the newly built convention center, gathering vendors and suppliers to showcase products for building energy-efficient homes. At that time, her team focused heavily on R&D to identify the best energy-efficient solutions, such as open-cell foam insulation in the attic, which was a step up from traditional spray insulation. Although more costly upfront, these materials provided long-term savings for her clients — an investment that truly paid off.
Linda’s success in her career is deeply rooted in her personal values. As a proud mother of two daughters and a doting grandmother to six grandchildren, her family and faith have always been the foundation of her life, guiding both her work and her achievements.
Her family is her joy, and she has always been the glue that holds them together, hosting every holiday and family gathering at her home. This strong family bond extends to her professional life, where she treats her team and subcontractors like family, fostering a supportive and loyal work environment.
Building with Heart and Soul
As for Linda’s faith, she believes in giving up her worries to God, trusting that He will provide for her and her business, especially during slow times. This deep faith is reflected in her daily interactions, whether it’s praying over the foundation of a new home with the entire team and clients or offering a prayer of comfort to a subcontractor going through a tough time. Her compassionate nature and genuine care for others have strengthened her relationships, creating a strong sense of community among her clients, colleagues, and everyone she encounters.
Linda’s commitment to service extends beyond her professional work. Each year, she partners with Fort Hood to organize a Toy Drive for the children of lower-enlisted soldiers, a project close to her heart. With the generous support of the Bastrop community and local businesses, they collect toys and monetary donations, making a significant impact on the lives of military families. In 2023, Linda’s current client, an army combat veteran, even donned a Santa suit, while his wife dressed as an elf. Linda hopes to grow the event further in the coming years to serve even more units at Fort Hood.
Today, Linda is not just a homebuilder or a designer — she is a beacon of integrity, compassion, and resilience in her community. Her story is one of overcoming challenges, staying true to one’s values, and always striving to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Through her work and community service, Linda continues to inspire those around her, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence, service, and faith.
