What Do They Say About Mike?
- Known for calm demeanor and problem-solving abilities.
It’s All in the Details
Mike Dickson’s first experience buying a home came with a long punch list. But the company only addressed a handful of items, showing little concern for their reputation. Determined to be different, Mike takes pride in proactively addressing every detail – even if it’s outside his immediate responsibility.
Mike has had a passion for building ever since he was a child. He recalls using his father’s tools to create a double-barrel band gun with a functioning trigger, and later constructing a chicken coop for his family. This early hands-on experience ignited a love for problem-solving and craftsmanship that would follow him throughout his life.
Though Mike initially pursued a professional degree in another field, his heart always returned to construction. During college, he worked at Grossman’s, a building materials supplier, where he eagerly took courses in electrical work and plumbing, gaining invaluable skills. This hands-on learning shaped his early career, and after graduation, Mike remodeled offices and homes, further honing his expertise.
From Blueprints to Punch Lists
His career took a significant leap when he joined Home Depot, where he progressed from a regular employee to building materials manager. Mike’s leadership skills flourished as he worked on commercial family laser tag centers, eventually becoming the general manager of a showcase location that featured a climbing structure and arcade. Under his management, the location thrived, and Mike helped expand the concept to new areas.
After the corporation he was with went bankrupt, Mike stepped in to help reopen one of the closed locations, demonstrating his resilience and ability to lead through adversity. He then transitioned into home warranty work for a major builder, and later moved into home improvement, where he helped modernize rundown homes.
Today, Mike specializes in managing projects from the Sheetrock phase onward, handling tasks like taping, texturing, trim work, and painting. He also manages punch lists and ensures warranty issues are promptly addressed.
More than the Home
Mike’s approach sets him apart from other builders. He doesn’t just focus on finishing projects quickly – he believes in building lasting relationships with clients. Known for his problem-solving abilities and calm demeanor, Mike ensures homeowners feel heard and understood, delivering work that reflects his commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Mike is a dedicated father of six, a Christian, and an active member of his community. His faith drives him to lead by example, teaching his children the importance of helping others and being a positive force in the world. He’s passionate about addressing issues like pollution and taking action to create a better future. This same sense of responsibility and care extends to his work, where he encourages his team to put their best effort into every project because, as he believes, “It reflects on us as a whole.”
